Sonshine Bible Institute is a sister educational ministry of Sonshine Worship Center and Sonshine Christian Academy.  The church and academy were established simultaneously in Ft. Myers, Florida in 1976 as Evangelistic Works, Inc., a 501c3 non-profit organization of Florida (1976) and have continued without interruption for the past 30 years, provided solid, consistent Christian leadership and training to constituents of southwest Florida. 

Bobby L. Calvert sensed a direct commision of God to come from Indiana to open the church and school in 1976.  The church was first called Ft. Myers Evangelistic Center, the school, Sonshine Christian Academy, located on a 7 acre plot on Nuna Ave.    The name was changed to Sonshine Worship Center as the church anticipated moving to the present 17 acre campus, 12925 Palm Beach Blvd., in 2001.

The ministry is intradenominational with people from various cultures and heritages entering to worship and departing to serve the Lord Jesus Christ.

SBI faculty are from different walks of life, serving God in various fields of ministry and community development, and from different churches, giving diversity to the classroom and courses of SBI.
